Our spinal injury case manager Marie Ellis nominated by the Back-Up Trust for a Voluntary Sector Award

Marie was recently nominated for one of the Voluntary Sector Awards 2015 run by the Volunteer Centre for Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire.

Unbeknown to Marie, she had been nominated for the special award for long service (volunteer) by the Back-Up Trust, a charity she has been involved with for over 13 years.

“I found out about the nomination when I got a certificate in the post,” says Marie, “it was a bit of a surprise. I’m going to put it pride of place on my office wall.”

Apparently the Back-Up Trust had searched for a suitable award to give Marie some recognition for her hard work over the years, volunteering as a care co-ordinator and group leader.

“It’s a charity close to my heart,” says Marie, “empowering people with spinal injuries and pushing the boundaries of what people are able to achieve.”
