Support worker induction

At JSP we recognise that starting work as a support worker can be challenging, so we have designed a comprehensive induction that covers the key areas you need to know about to help you to work as effectively as possible from the start of your employment.

Skills for Care is the body responsible for workforce standards for the whole of adult social care in England. JSP is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which states that providers must have an induction that follows the Care Certificate standards from Skills for Care.

The Care Certificate sets out the standards you must meet at the start of your job. Designed with people new to care in mind, the Care Certificate gives support workers a standard induction, learning the same skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe and high quality care and support. Our JSP Care Certificate course also covers most support worker mandatory training.

Even if you are not new to care, the Care Certificate is a good way to refresh your skills and knowledge, although we may also use alternative methods of induction for experienced staff, which will be equally comprehensive.

Your case manager will carry out a client-specific induction and look at any additional training you may require to fulfil your role, such as bespoke moving and handling training to meet your client’s needs.

You will receive regular support and supervision beyond your induction, along with an annual appraisal. If further training is identified in order for you to meet the needs of your client, this will be agreed with your case manager.

We hope you will find your role rewarding, safe in the knowledge that you are supported every step of the way in enabling our clients to achieve their full potential.
